A noun is a word that names a person, place, thing, or idea.
There are 5 main types of
nouns in English:

The specific name of a

2. Common Noun |
A general name for a
person, place, or thing. |

3. Collective Noun |
Names a group of people or
things. |
team, class, family, bunch |
4. Abstract Noun |
Names an idea, feeling, or
quality (something you can’t touch). |
love, freedom, anger, happiness |
5. Concrete Noun |
Names something you can see,
touch, hear, taste, or smell. |
apple, car, music, perfume |
